 PAT Enriches Children’s Learning

Since the ’04-’05 school year, our first year as a Booster Club, PAT has funded, organized, and staffed a variety of new and exciting Enrichment Programs otherwise unavailable to our kids.  Our kids danced, sang, shopped, painted, laughed, read and learned from -- 

·         Harp Beat a musical celebration of American patriotism

·         Steel Drum Band a fun cultural spin to sounds of the holidays

·         Jewish Ensemble Theater presented about how words can hurt with “I Was Just Kidding”

·         Roary the Detroit Lion’s Leadership Mascot taught our kids how to lead their pack

·         Earth Balloon a climb-inside your world, interactive model of the earth and its wonder

·         Arts Day a hands on, day long multi-medium arts festival

·         Mello D’s Youth Under Construction a positive, energetic and fun concert with a message

And in subsequent years, PAT memberships and corporate sponsorships helped PAT provide these fabulous and well-received programs:

·         Wacky Science put science into the hands of our kids with focus on science with every day objects

·         Southern Great Lakes Symphony a musical and fun-filled celebration of the holiday season

·         Holiday Gift Shop a holiday shopping service where kids learned that giving is better than receiving – now a school favorite

·         Diversity Circus taught students to accept and appreciate the differences that make us individuals

·         Guest Author for Reading Month – Children’s author, illustrator, poet, and musician, Kevin Kammeraad  presented the many steps which go into creating a book.

·         Brainstormers a fun filled approach to creative writing with a dramatic twist

·         Summer Library Program in-school cooperative support of summer reading for our kids 

·        Gary Bower, Michigan Author presented “I’m a Michigan Kid” and did a presentation on how an idea becomes a book

·        Living Science – Bringing live animals into classrooms making science come alive

·        Sirius Stardome Shows – Bringing astronomy to school during the day

PAT Says Thanks to Our Teachers

PAT also recognizes the personal and financial commitment of our teachers.  Annually, PAT dollars have provided monetary gifts to our teachers to help offset classroom costs like math and science materials, and scholastic reading kits.

PAT Makes a Difference

In the 2007-2008 school year, PAT Booster Club raised over $59,000 through the generous support of our school families and corporate sponsors.   In addition to the enrichment programs mentioned above, $20,000 was allotted to help fund the new World Language Progralm for Grades 3-5.  Additionally, PAT was able to give approximately $11,000 to each elementary school for its individual curriculum and grade-specific needs.  What a fantastic and productive year indeed!
