
A project oriented course designed to introduce students to the elements and principles of design in three dimensional art. Students will learn creative thinking strategies, art history and criticism as they explore various hand building methods in clay to create both useful and sculptural objects. The standard $30 dollar lab fee will be charged to all students that participate in this course due to the cost of supplies.
(1 or 2 semesters – may be taken either semester or for the entire year 10-12th)
Advanced clay students will build on their knowledge of the various hand building methods to execute projects that emphasize problem solving skills and that reflect the student’s own personal style. Students will also have the opportunity to learn ‘throwing’ techniques on the pottery wheel. Emphasis will continue to be placed on art history and criticism.
