Music

Music is a point of pride in the Grosse Ile Township School District. The district offers a comprehensive K-12 music experience for every student in the district.

At the elementary level, every student has music class as a part of their three-day enrichment rotation. In these classes, students learn about music through singing and other music-centered activities. Students also have the opportunity to learn a band instrument in the 5th grade.

The Grosse Ile Middle School Music Department offers students the chance to continue their growth as musicians. Students can choose to take chorus, band, and a music appreciation course.

Students have a wide variety of music classes they can choose from at the high school level. Vocal music students can participate in the Men's Glee Club, the Women's Glee Club, and the Madrigal Singers. Band students can participate in the Marching Band, Symphonic Band, the Jazz Ensemble, and the Wind Ensemble. Students also study the mechanics of music in Intro to Music Theory and Advanced Placement Music Theory. There is also a state-of-the-art Music Tech Lab where students can compose their own music!
