The island of Grosse Ile is located in southeastern Michigan at the mouth of Lake Erie, with a population of 11,000. Grosse Ile has been ranked one of the safest communities in Michigan. It is a unique community rich in history and proud of its heritage. The island is home to skilled and professional people who work in Detroit, Ann Arbor, Toledo, and the surrounding areas.
Grosse Ile offers a picturesque setting for many recreational activities. A bike path winds its way through the center of the island, where residents walk, bike and run. Island residents often boat across to neighboring Canada for lunch, dinner or pleasure. Grosse Ile has several boat clubs, golf clubs and a Municipal Airport.
Grosse Ile Township Schools has one High School, one Middle School and two Elementary Schools. Enrollment averages 2,000 students annually.
