  • Apply to the colleges of your choice - http://www.actstudent.org/college/applychoice.html
  • Please give the counseling office two weeks to process (especially in Sept/Oct/Nov). Apply on-line (most colleges prefer this) but the counseling office needs to send an official transcript.  Many times, there is a school report sheet to print off that students need to bring into the counseling office. This is sent out with transcript.
  • Each student is allowed to send three transcripts/applications free of charge.  After three there is a $1.00 per transcript/application charge.

• Does the college your attending require community service hours?  If so, begin to collect these.   
  Check bulletin board in front of office and/or at counseling office for scholarships; these are posted bi-weekly
  • Scholarship information now on-line at under the Counseling button -- scholarships. Hard copies of applications may be available in the counseling office.  Information updated frequently.
• NCAA registration – Any athlete who is considering participating in college athletics at the Division I or II level must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse.  An athlete not registered may not receive a scholarship or participate in Division I or II athletics.  The registration process is done through the athlete’s high school counselor.  (There is small fee.)
  • On-line at www.ncaa.org or www.ncaaclearinghouse.net.  They do not send us hard copies.  Print off two forms to give to counseling office; one that is sent with current transcript and the other at the end of the year with final transcript.
• Retake ACT-SAT tests, if needed
• All night party committee being set up
• Parent financial aid meeting for junior and senior parents, sponsored by counseling
• Talk to your high school guidance counselor about local scholarship opportunities and search for other scholarships.

OTHER

• If your child is going off to college this fall and living in a dorm, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices highly recommend that your child be immunized against meningitis. Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital offers this vaccine.  A completed and signed form must be presented with payment in order to receive the vaccination. These consent forms may be picked up in the high school office. You may contact HFWY hot-line at 734-246-7500 in order to reserve a dose or request additional information.

  For the first time in our history the Grosse Ile High School yearbook is in full color!

  In order to fund this grand project and continue the trend into next year, we need to sell 500 books this year. 

   

  The cost of the book is $60 dollars and checks can be made payable to Grosse Ile High School.  Contact Laura Macintyre at (734) 362-2429 or macintl@gischools.org for sales or more information.

   

  Also, you can now purchase a yearbook using a credit card by using the Walsworth publishing's Sales Express Program.  Go online at www.byayearbook.com or call 1(888) 298-5056 to purchase.  In both cases you will be asked for a school ID, which is "9048090".  Online ordering through this program can be done from now until December 12th.  There will be a small service charge.
