My
name is Maureen Bailey. I have been a math teacher for the past
five years. My first teach job was at O.W. Best Middle School in
Dearborn
Heights where I spent one year. The last four years I have been
at
Southgate
Anderson High School teaching various sections of Integrated
Math as well as both Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Principals of Math.
In addition to teaching math at Anderson, I am currently the varsity
boys track & field coach.
I graduated from Grosse
Ile High School in 1996. I then attended John
Carroll University in the Cleveland area, where I ran
both track and
cross country and set two school records in the 3000 and 5000 meter
runs, and earned a bachelors of science degree in mathematics. I
was a student teacher at Grosse Ile High School in 2001 and I earned
my Master's degree from Marygrove
College in 2005.
When I am not at school or on the athletic field, I can be seen
running
the streets of Grosse Ile, where I currently reside. I have been
a runner
for over 20 years since I was in 3rd grade when my elementary school
had a track program on recess. I have completed a marathon, a half
marathon, and I currently run several road races throughout the year.
I love to run and
would welcome anyone to join me if you ever feel like taking up
running!!!
When I am not running, I also enjoy working out at the Flat Rock
Community Center. When the weather is nice, I love to bike, rollerblade,
swim, water-ski, and boat. If I cannot be outside or in some way
exercising, I like to do crossword puzzles, go to sporting events,
watch jeopardy on TV, and hangout with my friends.
My family is very important to me. I have one brother, JP, who
lives
in Washington DC. I am very close to and spend a lot of time with
my
parents, Ann and Keith, who just moved to Newport, MI. My mom works
at Grosse Ile High School and my dad runs the family business, Control
Manufacturing Corporation in Riverview, where they build steel fabricated
products. In the summer, my family enjoys spending time together
on our boat and we also like traveling to various places. We have
vacationed to Ireland, Bermuda, the Caribbean, various ports along
the Great Lakes, as well as many cities throughout the USA, but
the most memorable time was when we drove the boat up to Lake Charlevoix
when I as in high school. My parents gave my brother and I the chance
to experience a lot growing up and for that I am very thankful.
