Mr. Medved is a 1996 graduate of Grosse Ile High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and History from Oakland University in 2001. Mr. Medved attended Madonna University and earned his secondary-level Michigan teaching certificate in the areas of Communication Arts, English, and History. Currently, Mr. Medved is working on his Masters of Education in Special Education, concentrating in Emotional Impairments, at Wayne State University.
Mr. Medved began his teaching career as a substitute teacher, primarily at the middle school, in the Grosse Ile Township School District. Mr. Medved became a full-time member of the Grosse Ile Middle School staff in the 2006-2007 school year in the Special Education/Emotional Impaired self-contained classroom. After that year, Mr. Medved began a new assignment of teaching 8th grade American History. In addition to teaching American History, Mr. Medved helps with the planning of the annual 8th grade class trip to Washington D.C.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Medved can be found working as the "Voice of the Red Devils" for varsity football, middle school football, and girls' varsity basketball as the public address announcer.
Mr. Medved began a tree planting project in the fall of 2001 to improve the appearance behind the football field's grandstands and surrounding area. To help generate funds, Mr. Medved applied for and received grants from the Michigan Arbor Day Alliance and the Michigan DNR/DTE Energy Tree Planting Fund. Mr. Medved has also helped beautify the outside of Grosse Ile Middle School by helping keep up the flower beds, planting trees, and offering his green-thumb for a variety of school-related enhancement projects.
Mr. Medved's professional experience also includes working at Winner's Dodge in Woodhaven, MI. In 2002, Mr. Medved worked in the audio-visual department at Ford Field, the home of the NFL's Detroit Lion s. While attending Oakland University, Mr. Medved worked in the athletic department of the school creating visual graphics and operating the video scoreboard for college basketball games. Other duties included serving as the public address announcer for the Golden Grizzlies women's volleyball, softball, and baseball teams.
In his spare time, Mr. Medved enjoys spending time in the Petoskey/Harbor Springs area. He also enjoys going to car shows and is a big fan of Mopars. To relax, Mr. Medved loves getting on his tractor and attempting to cut his lawn similar to the designs at Comerica Park.
