Seventh Grade Geography is a fun and exciting class. A wide variety of learning methods are used throughout the year. Our text book, World Cultures and Geography, starts as a foundation for the class. From there we further research using computers, magazines, newspapers, encyclopedias and movies. Students are working by themselves, in pairs, groups and sometimes as a class on any number of topics.
Our curriculum covers Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and Other Islands in the Pacific and Antactica. Our studies include geography, history, economy, government and culture. We also research current events in these countries.
In ELA, students keep journals and participate in many writing activities. They complete one major research paper toward the end of the year. Students also read several books and complete a variety of book reports. These are shared with the other students. Poetry is also covered in this class with students using modern music to complete a poetry search.
Just as in geography, students are working by themselves, in pairs, groups or as a whole class on different topics. Technology is encouraged and used often.
