GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS



 
UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN CLUB OF GREATER DETROIT SCHOLARSHIPS

The University of Michigan Club of Greater Detroit is sponsoring twelve unique scholarship opportunities for quality citizen-students.  Please visit the club's Website at www.umclubgreaterdetroit.org for the online application and information about the various scholarships.  Eligibility criteria is: ACT score of 31 or SAT score of 1430 or be in the top 1% of your graduating class. Deadline to apply is Friday, January 13, 2017.


BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

BGSU encourages high achieving students who apply to their university by December 5, 2016, to apply for the Presidential Scholars Award, a full tuition, renewable scholarship. A scholarship competition is held in January for students who meet the minimum qualifications:

  • 30+ ACT composite or 1390+ SAT (taken prior to March 2016)

  • 3.8+ on a 4.0 GPA scale
  • Be an incoming Freshman for the Fall of 2017
  • Complete the application to BGSU and to the Honors College and submit ACT/SAT scores and official transcript by December 5, 2016.

MICHIGAN EDUCATION ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

The MEA is offering scholarships to qualifying students. The number and amounts have not been determined yet. Last  year they awarded 34 scholarships ranging from $1,200 to $500.
Eligibility criteria:

  • Dependent of an MEA member or MEA-Retired member
  • Graduate of a Michigan public high school or private high school that has an MEA bargaining unit
  • Will attend a Michigan public college or vocational training institution and some private colleges
  • Children of MEA officers, fund trustees and MEA staff are not eligible

Selection Criteria:

  • Academic Achievement
  • Extra-curricular activities
  • School and community service
  • Students from lower income households

Students can apply online at www.mea.org/mea-scholarship. Application deadline is Thursday, February 23, 2017.

SCHOOLCRAFT COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

TRUSTEE SCHOLARSHIP - $4,000 over two years
Requirements:

  • 2017 high school graduate
  • Fall 2017 admission to Schoolcraft College
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • SAT 940+ or ACT 18+

AWARD OF EXCELLENCE - $5,000 over two years
Requirements:

  • 2017 high school graduate
  • Fall 2017 admission to Schoolcraft College
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5
  • SAT 1130+ or ACT 23+

BAKER COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

Board of Regents Scholarship worth up to $24,0000 and the Baker College Career Scholarship worth up to $6,400.  For more information go to baker.edu/scholarships.

THE RUDY ANAYA SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by the Wayne County Detectives Association)

This scholarship grant is to further the integrity and professionalism developed in the Criminal Justice system, specifically the Law Enforcement segment as a police office in the State of Michigan. Only high school students graduating with the class of 2017 are eligible. Applications are available in the Counseling Office and must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2017.

THE AMERICAN LEGION SCHOLARSHIPS

The Guy Wilson Scholarship - $500
This scholarship is available to only Michigan residents attending high school and a son, daughter, grandchild or great-grandchild of a war-time veteran planning to attend any Michigan accredited college or university. Selection is based on a student's GPA of 2.5 or higher, financial need, parent's or grandparent's honorable active war-time military service, goals and intentions. Deadline to apply is January 9, 2017. Applications  are available at www.michiganlegion.org/scholarships

The William D. & Jewell Brewer Scholarship- $500
This scholarship is available to only Michigan residents who are attending high school or college and planning to  or are attending any nationally accredited college or university. Selection is based on a student's GPS of 2.5 or higher, financial need, parent's or grandparent's honorable active war-time military service, goals and intentions. Deadline to apply is January 9, 2017. Applications are available at www.michiganlegion.org/scholarships

NFL ALUMNI - DETROIT CHAPTER STUDENT ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIPS 

Each scholarship awards one scholarship to one female and one male high school student athlete. Each scholarship is $2,500 and will be awarded to students who attend a high school within Wayne County. Students will not have accepted any scholarship funds or grants to participate in college athletics. Please check the website at www.nflalumnidet.org for the rest of the eligibility requirements and for the application. Deadline to apply is February 24, 2017.

MICHIGAN TECH UNIVERSITY IMPACT SCHOLARSHIP

The School of Business and Economics Impact Scholarship recognizes Michigan high school seniors who have demonstrated leadership experience and academic success both in and outside the classroom and are planning to major in accounting, economics, engineering management, finance, management, management information systems or marketing. Scholarship is valued at $7,000 per year. Visit mtu.edu/impactscholarship for more information. Deadline to apply is December 15, 2016.

COMMUNITY  FOUNDATION FOR SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN

The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan is offering several college scholarships. Please visit their website at cfsem.org/SCHOLARSHIPS for more information and applications. Deadline to apply is March 15, 2017.

SOCIETY OF WOMEN ENGINEERS

The Detroit section of the Society of Women Engineers annually recognizes high school females who have shown exemplary abilities in areas such as leadership, academic, and community activities and intend to pursue a college degree in engineering. The application can be found at www.swe.org. Deadline to apply is March 1, 2017.
