As a 5th grade teacher, I have tried to create an environment in my classroom in which students feel comfortable to take risks, make mistakes and learn. I want students to feel safe, respected and supported. Every time I look into the eyes of a struggling learner or pat the shoulder of a student who has finally conquered a concept that gave them difficulties, I am thankful that I became a teacher. I believe that all students are capable of learning and it is my job to find a way to make it happen.

I received my bachelor's degree from Wayne State University in 1997. After 8 years working with automotive financing, I decided to go back to school for my teaching certificate. I received my Michigan Teaching Certificate in 2005 after student teaching in Grosse Ile at Meridian Elementary. I worked as a long term and short term substitute teacher in several downriver districts, including Trenton, Grosse Ile, Huron, Southgate, and Flat Rock before being hired as a second grade teacher at Parke Lane Elementary. I have also worked in Grosse Ile in the Title I program. I am currently teaching 5th grade at Meridian Elementary and going back to school for a Masters of Teaching and Learning with an Educational Technology endorsement from Madonna University.

My years as a fifth grade teacher at Meridian have been very rewarding, fun, and exciting. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work with such a fine community of teachers and learners.
