I graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in K-12 Art Education in 2006. After earning my BS, I continued my studies at Wayne State and in 2008, earned a Master of Library and Information Science Degree and a Library Media K-12 endorsement on my teaching certificate. The State of Michigan considers me to be highly qualified in both art education and as a library media specialist based on my performances on the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC).After being laid off in January of last year due to budget cuts, I was called back for the 2010-2011 school year.Currently, I am representing all four building libraries as the District Library Media Specialist. To me, the mission of the library media program is to support the curriculum and to provide the resources and personnel to ensure that learners can be "effective users of ideas and information;" this idea is based on Information Power: Building Partnerships for Learning, a book published by the American Library Association and the American Association of School Librarians.
