If you suspect your child needs services, the following explanation may help. The determination for special education eligibility begins with a building level child study team (CST). Teachers and parents will work together to review current classroom performance and the results of interventions and accommodations that have been utilized to assist the child educationally or behaviorally. If a parent suspects a student has an academic and/or behavioral problem that interferes with learning, please contact your child's teacher or the building principal to discuss the need for a pre-referral. If a student is eligible to receive special education services the team develops a service plan (IEP) based on the student's present level of academic performance.
