Student Council

Student Council is a group of students chosen by their peers to represent them.  Their overall goal is to boost moral and raise Grosse Ile school spirit.  They meet 25 minutes each day in the morning and work together to share ideas about how to achieve these goals.  Some ideas include spirit week, spirit links, school sponsored activities and various raffles.  These activities fill our school days with lots of excitement.  Also, they carry out fundraisers like selling entertainment books and magazines.

In the last few weeks each homeroom student council representatives have gone back to their homeroom classes on Wednesday to talk and discuss as a class a lesson from Project Wisdom.  The lessons are based on the quote of the day from our principal, Mr. Tucker.  These lessons encourage students to act with kindness and show respect to themselves and others.

How do students benefit?

Middle school years bridge the gap between childhood and young adulthood. It is a crossroads in life. Young people need and want new and exciting challenges that direct their personal development toward the fulfillment of a happy and productive life. Builders Club helps to build strong leaders for tomorrow...today.

Builders Club provides a way to form sound personal values based on experiences in meaningful community-service activities. The members learn by doing. They learn organization, teamwork, and leadership. But the most important lesson they can learn is that individuals working together can and will make a difference to the world around them.

Who sponsors a Builders Club?

Builders Club is sponsored by Kiwanis International, a nonreligious, nonpolitical, worldwide organization of business professional men and women dedicated to community service. Kiwanis members recognize that young people today want to take an active role in solving problems and meeting needs of the world around them--whether that world is as small as a classroom or as large as a city.

Builder's Club Pledge

"I pledge on my honor to uphold the objects of Builders Club; to better my school, my community, my nation, and myself; to aid those in need while enhancing leadership capabilities; and to encourage the fellowship of all mankind."
