The Media Center supports student learning at Parke Lane Elementary.  Students visit the library once a week with their class.  Mrs. Bowyer, library paraproffesional, reads the students a story.  Students then have the opportunity to check out books of their choice.  Ms. Timm, library media specialist, collaborates with the teachers to offer support to the staff and students.

The mission of the library media program is to ensure that the students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. 

  

This mission is accomplished:

 

• By providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats.

• By providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas.

• By working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students.

For your convenience we have:

 over 7,500 books and reference materials

6 student workstation computers

ALL BOOKS : one week

REFERENCE MATERIALS : overnight
