Mission Statement
It is my mission as a classroom teacher, to help students realize that each is a unique person with great potential and to promote a positive learning environment that will build strong self-esteem, so they can perform to their highest ability. Students in my class will be accountable for their academic and social actions, so when they leave this class they will function as responsible citizens in our school and community.

Welcome Letter

 Dear Parents,

From the time I was a young girl, I wanted to be a teacher. To make this dream come true I attended Concordia Jr. Teachers College in Ann Arbor where I earned my Associates Degree. From there I went on to study at Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska and received my B.S. in Education. I have completed some graduate work at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and completed my Master's in the Art of Teaching at Marygrove College. As a mother of three boys, I have experienced many life lessons that have enriched me as a teacher.

I have been a teacher for over 30 years, over half of them having been for the Grosse Ile Schools. Before teaching in this school system I was the Co-founder and Director of two preschools: Little Lambs Christian Preschool in Riverview, Michigan and Faith Lutheran Pre-Kindergarten in Baltimore, Maryland.

It is my desire that your child will have a very positive experience over the next year. My mission as a classroom teacher is to help your child realize that he or she is an unique person with great potential. I will create a positive learning environment that will build strong self-esteem, so your child can perform to his highest ability. I will hold your child accountable for his academic and social actions, so when your child leaves my class, he or she will function as a responsible citizen in our school and community.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child over the coming years. If you have any concerns please feel free to contact me at 734-362-2673. This is a direct line. If I am busy teaching when you call please leave a message and I'll get back with you as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Marjean Martz
