Federal Financial Aid

The most common type of financial aid is in the form of Federal Financial Aid.  There are several programs offered.  Students who wish to apply for federal financial aid must meet the eligibility requirements for the program they wish to participate in. 

Eligibility for federal programs are determined by the information provided by students on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Basic requirements include:

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED

  • Be a U.S. Citizen

  • Be enrolled or enrolling in a degree or certificate program

  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress

How to Apply for Federal Financial Aid

In order to apply for federal financial aid students need to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The FAFSA form is available in the counseling office or by visiting the FAFSA website

If students are planning on applying online, they must first have a PIN number.  Students can register for a PIN number at http://www.studentaid.ed.gov/.  Once students have they PIN number, they are ready to fill out the online form.  The online application for student aid opens on October 1st for the upcoming school year.
