Red Devils showed up BIG during this year’s Block Out Cancer Charity Week, demonstrating the power of teamwork, generosity, and school spirit.
Thanks to the incredible efforts of students, staff, volunteers, donors, and sponsors, Grosse Ile High School proudly raised $7,500 to support U of M Mott Children’s Hospital. Throughout the week, the halls were filled with energy as students participated in a wide variety of events designed to bring the school together for a meaningful cause.
The week kicked off on Monday with exciting lunchtime activities, including Bead Wars, where students competed to collect the most beads for their teams. Students also enjoyed a movie experience during 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hours, while showing their spirit by dressing in Cars Movie-themed outfits.
On Tuesday, students started the day with a Breakfast fundraiser during 1st and 2nd hours, followed by a popular Chick-fil-A Auction during 7th hour, where students bid on fun prizes and experiences. The day also featured PJ Day, adding a relaxed and fun atmosphere to the school day.
Wednesday continued the momentum with Panera Bagels sold during 1st through 3rd hours, followed by the always-competitive Coin Wars during 2nd through 6th hours, where students donated spare change to support the cause. Students showed their class pride by participating in Color Wars, creating a sea of school spirit throughout the building.
On Thursday, students enjoyed visits from a Coffee Truck during lunch, offering refreshments to support the fundraiser. One of the highlights of the day was the visit from Therapy Dogs during 6th and 7th hours, bringing smiles and comfort to students and staff. The themed day, “Anything But a Water Bottle,” added creativity and laughter to the halls.
The week wrapped up on Friday with one of the most anticipated events—Pie a Teacher during lunch, where students had the chance to pie their favorite teachers in good fun. The day concluded with an exciting U of M vs. MSU-themed Volleyball Game during 5th through 7th hours, bringing students together to cheer, compete, and celebrate the success of the week.
