The future is looking bright at Grosse Ile High School as we continue moving forward with bond project improvements across the district.
Recently, we celebrated the completion of our new football stadium, which students have affectionately nicknamed the "Red Devil Den." Along with the stadium, our new baseball and softball fields are complete and already making a positive impact on our student-athletes and community. The district also completed the transformation of Parke Lane into the new Grosse Ile Elementary School, creating a modern learning environment for our youngest Red Devils.
Work will continue on the soccer field, middle school baseball fields, and significant renovations at Grosse Ile High School.
Inside the high school, students and staff can look forward to exciting updates designed to enhance learning, collaboration, innovation, and school pride.
A New Commons Area
One of the most anticipated projects is the transformation of our Media Center into a modern Commons Area. This redesigned space will provide students with flexible options for learning, studying, and collaboration. Students will be able to:
Meet in small groups
Participate in online classes
Enjoy a quiet and comfortable place to study
Check out books and read
Schedule time in the immersive learning room
The Commons Area will become a central hub where students can connect, learn, and grow.
Expanded STEM Opportunities
Our current STEM classroom is being expanded into a comprehensive STEM Center that will include:
A dedicated STEM classroom
A computer lab
A workshop space for hands-on learning and innovation
This new area will provide students with additional opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through real-world experiences and project-based learning.
Modernized Science Labs
Our science classrooms are also receiving major upgrades. Renovated classrooms and state-of-the-art laboratory spaces will give students access to modern equipment and learning environments that support inquiry, experimentation, and discovery.
Athletic & Fine Arts Improvements
Students, athletes, performers, and community members will benefit from several exciting facility upgrades throughout the high school.
The gym locker rooms are being completely renovated and will include new coaches' offices, creating improved spaces for our student-athletes and coaching staff.
One of the most exciting transformations is the auditorium. The auditorium is receiving a complete renovation, creating a modern and welcoming space for performances, assemblies, concerts, ceremonies, and community events. Alumni who return to GIHS will be amazed by the transformation and the opportunities it will provide for our students for years to come.
A Fresh New Look Throughout the Building
In addition to the major renovations, the high school will receive all new furniture throughout the building. These upgrades will create comfortable, flexible, and collaborative learning environments that support the needs of today's students.
The main office is also being redesigned to create a more welcoming, functional, and efficient space for students, families, staff, and visitors.
