Starting Off Right
Grosse Ile Township Schools offers parents and children multiple options for this most important initial education experience. Currently the following Kindergarten options are available:
- For Kindergarten, the child must be five years of age by September 1
- For Transitional Kindergarten, the child must be five years of age between September 1 and December 1
- Parents who wish to enroll a child who turns five years of age between September 1 and December 1 may request placement in Kindergarten.
If any parent is interested in having their child attend Transitional Kindergarten and their child is of Kindergarten age, the district offers a Kindergarten Readiness screener to help parents and the district support the appropriate placement. We ask that you notify Grosse Ile Elementary that you would like your child to be screened.
All Day Kindergarten
@ Grosse Ile Elementary
The all-day Kindergarten experience is offered at Grosse Ile Elementary. Kindergarten Information Night is generally held in March of the school year. At this time, parents receive registration information.
Transitional Kindergarten Program
@ Grosse Ile Elementary
In addition to the above experiences, we offer an all-day Transitional Kindergarten program. Deciding exactly when to begin a youngster in Kindergarten is a decision that frequently requires insights from both teachers and parents. Transitional Kindergarten is yet another Kindergarten option for Grosse Ile families as they decide what is best for their child.
