Holiday cards for the Dignity For The Aged Michigan Chapter.
Thank you GIMS for your AWESOME cards!

Yesterday, DCTC (Downriver Career Technical Consortium) came to Meridian to meet with our 5th graders to introduce them to opportunities for their high school years. The DCTC is a consortium of nine high school districts that collectively share resources and work together to provide Career & Technical Education classes to students in Wayne and Monroe counties. . The DCTC students lead our 5th graders through activities to showcase their programs they offer in Culinary Arts & Hospitality, Education Careers, Health Science and Construction Trades. Students decorated cupcakes, used a drill and tape measure, planned a classroom layout, learned about visual disabilities with simulation goggles and learned about their respiratory system using a 3D model. Thank you to the instructors and students who took time to come and give our students this experience.

On Saturday, November 18th three Meridian Robotics teams competed at the 2023 FIRST LEGO League Challenge Qualifier! Our students were amazing! They were articulate and poised during the presentation portion of the event, and their love of learning and caring for others came shining through. Communication and collaboration skills were very evident during the robot mission challenges and presentations. Throughout the entire event, they exhibited gracious professionalism. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to the volunteers who played a vital role in coaching and mentoring our fourth and fifth graders. We also extend our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Orr for attending this event to support our teams.
There were 36 teams in total. The Mechanical Maniacs earned 1st place in the robot mission challenges, while the Island Imaginators secured 2nd place. For the overall competition, the Island Imaginators earned 2nd place, and the Mechanical Maniacs secured 3rd place. As a result, both of these teams will progress to the state competition in December.
Our third robotics team, the Lightning Bricks, has their qualifier event on December 2nd and won the Innovation Award!
Best wishes at States!!!!!
