Meridian 5th Grade Parents - You have just over a week to get your Camp letters & medication turned into the office. One of the traditions of 5th grade camp is students receiving letters from their loved ones each morning. Please participate in this tradition as your child will look forward to receiving and reading a letter from you and others! - Have each letter in a different envelope labeled with your child’s name and 5th grade teacher’s name on the outside of the envelope - If you prefer which morning they read the letter, specify which day on the envelope They have three mornings, so three letters! - Please do not put anything else in the letters, especially food - We do try to surprise them with the letters so…shhhhh!

SOCKTOBER WEEK AT MERIDIAN! Way to go Meridian! Look at our sock donations so far! We are collecting new, clean socks through Friday 10/27 to donate to a local homeless shelter. Every night in the United States an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets. Socktober was launched by Kid President. It’s a movement to get kids and grown-ups to help the homeless in an easy, fun way. Every year, more than 10,000 schools, families, businesses, and churches rallied together to bring Socktober to life. This movement is helping prove that even the smallest acts of love, like donating a pair of socks, can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors who are homeless.

What a FUN spirit day here at Meridian today!  There was a lot of friendly rivalry going on and ended the day with some school-wide trivia.  Most importantly, this week we were able to raise some money for the Lincoln Park Jr Rails!

This week is Construction Inclusion week and our 5th graders had a presentation from The DeMaria Diversity Team. The students learned about who Demaria is, construction / trade workers roles and learned about diversity and inclusion in the workforce. The students also did a Lego activity using communication and teamwork. Thank you to DeMaria for coming in and talking to our students!

This week we had a school-wide assembly of 'The NED Show'. NED is an acronym for Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best! Our students loved the message and the stories.  Now, with the yo-yo purchase, our students have a chance to 'pay it forward' for another school to enjoy 'The NED Show'.    Thank you to PAT for coordinating another great event for our students!   *Students will be able to purchase the yo-yo's in the office until next Friday, 10/27/23
