Interscholastic Athletic Program

The interscholastic athletic program at Grosse Ile Township Schools is a vital and integral part of the total educational program. Research indicates a student involved in extracurricular activities has a greater chance for success during adulthood. Grosse Ile's interscholastic athletic program teaches mental and physical self discipline, teamwork, leadership, and the ability to deal with adversity.

Over two-thirds of our students participate on one of our interscholastic or club teams. It is a great way for students to have fun, develop new and lasting friendships, and experiences with students from other school districts.

We are proud of our teams and student-athletes accomplishments, especially of their academic success. Each year Grosse Ile High School is among the state leaders in academic All State Athletes and MHSAA Scholar Athlete Award qualifiers and recipients.

All eligible students of Grosse Ile Township School district shall have the opportunity to compete for positions on the athletic teams.  At the middle school level, every effort is made to spark student interest in athletic participation and competition. As many students as possible are kept on each team. The focus is on learning the fundamentals and the enjoyment of participation. This philosophy is carried through to freshman and, to a great extent, to junior varsity sports. The philosophy is different at the competitive varsity level, when every effort, within the guidelines of good sportsmanship and fair play, will be made to win.

Sports Physicals

Sports physicals are needed before a student participates in try outs for any sport. MHSAA physical forms are available by clicking below and in the main offices of the high school and middle school.
